CURRENT STUDIES

ReMind

The purpose of this study is to test whether finding similarities between life experiences of adversity and present stressors can facilitate momentary emotion regulation in late-life. Specifically, we aim to test the age-related neural mechanisms that support older adults in recalling essential life lessons and moments of resilience from past experiences.

EMOT2

The EMOT2 study aims to better understand the health and emotions of predominantly older-aged couples in long-term relationships upon receiving assistance and reassurance from their partner.

Couples in this study will be of younger or older age and will be composed of either two adults with no Alzheimer's disease or related dementias (ADRD), or one adult with ADRD and their caregiving partner. EEG, smartphone apps, a fitness watch, or a combination of the three to measure their physiological and emotional responses. With this data, our study will better understand the impact of romantic partners on emotion regulation across the human lifespan.

iMAP

The iMAP study intends to shed light on the neural correlates of depression. By leveraging precision functional brain mapping techniques, iMAP aims to clarify the association between depressive symptoms and functionally specialized regions of the default mode network, a neural network that supports autobiographical memory and social cognition. This is the first study to explore the links between depression and individualized sub-regions of the Default Mode Network and findings will provide a roadmap for the symptom-specific study of depression at the neural level.
